The School for Lay Ministry is held twelve weekends over a three year period covering carefully selected ministry areas. All churches need more trained laity in their ministry. Prayerfully consider this opportunity to build relationships that will enrich your life and you will surely become much closer to our Lord and Savior.  

The School was created to prepare people just like you to follow in Jesus’ footsteps through serving others. This supplemental leadership training helps facilitate ministry in Iowa United Methodist Churches. We can be the best servants when we are trained, informed and well prepared!

Several years ago dedicated people with great vision initiated the School for Lay Ministry in the Iowa Annual Conference. Since that beginning in 1994, the school has expanded adding a campus at Cornell College in Mount Vernon and the new Des Moines Site at the Iowa Annual Conference Center. In 2014 a Spanish language class was added.
