You are invited to join a new Iowa Interfaith Power & Light initiative called "Faith for Energy Equity." We are kicking off this initiative with workshops for faith leaders in Iowa to connect with one another and to imagine a shared response to energy inequity in our communities.
There are three sessions. If you are in a faith leadership role, please register for the workshop nearest your location. If you would like a faith leader who you know to join the workshop, please help us spread the word by forwarding this email or sharing this flyer.

What is Energy Equity?
"Energy equity" is when all people are able to access safe and affordable energy, and the health and well being of all communities are protected throughout the energy production and use process.
Unfortunately the most vulnerable members of our communities at home and around the world are being hurt first and worst by our inequitable energy economy. The poorest members of our communities often pay the largest amount of their budget for energy. Our faith traditions call us to care for our neighbors by reducing our own use of energy that causes pollution and providing safe, clean, and affordable energy to those in need. The good news is, there are more equitable pathways forward, and your faith community can help lead the way to a better future.
What will the workshop cover?
At this workshop we will examine how our inequitable energy economy harms low-income and communities of color, and how faith communities can respond with practical solutions. We will draw connections between climate change and other important moral issues such as hunger, immigration, disaster relief, poverty, and human health. Through conversation we will begin to build collective action to improve the quality of life in your community.
You will leave inspired and empowered to share your learning with your faith community!
Workshop includes a folder packed with resources to help you
• Save energy at home and in your congregation, which means lower energy bills!
• Educate your congregation
• Act together with your colleagues to improve the quality of life in your community
What is the cost of the workshop?
The workshop and lunch are free of charge. Coffee and morning snack will also be provided at no cost. Please register in advance so we can be sure to have enough food and materials on hand. We’d love to have you stay for lunch!
Who could benefit most from this workshop?
The workshop is designed for faith leaders who have interest in moving their congregation toward making a positive impact for energy equity. This may include clergy, leaders of justice and outreach ministries, leaders of education ministries, or stewards of faith communities' assets/facilities.
These workshops were created in partnership with Creation Justice Ministries, Iowa Interfaith Power Light, Iowa-Nebraska NAACP with I’ll Make Me A World In Iowa, and Young Evangelicals for Climate Action. Funded by US Climate Action Network.
